Yellow Candle

Yellow Candle Purchase Helps Send Students To
Holocaust Museum and Education Resource Center

The year 2019 marks the 74th anniversary of the end of WWII. The memory, lessons and magnitude of the Holocaust continue to slowly fade away. Part of our 6th and 7th grade religious school curriculum is the study of the Holocaust. These students, along with their parents and grandparents, toured the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Resource Center located in Skokie, Illinois on Sunday, April 7. The cost of the trip this year and for years to come is underwritten in part by the Yellow Candle Program organized by Temple Brotherhood. This program is a project of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs in cooperation with the Men of Reform Judaism.

We are encouraging your family and every family in our congregation to purchase a Yellow Candle for only $20. A candle, along with meditations, should be lit and read Yom Ha-Shoah evening, Wednesday, May 1. In doing so, you will “Light a Candle, Preserve a Memory.”

Use the order form below to purchase a Yellow Candle, or stop in at the synagogue office or contact a member of Temple Brotherhood. The Yellow Candle can be delivered to your home if requested by Friday, April 26. For more information, please contact Mark Holland at (414) 736-0696.
