7:00 PM - 9:00 PMCEEBJ GalleryRabbi Gershom Sizomu is the first native- born black rabbi in Sub Shaharan Africa, the chief Rabbi of Uganda and the first Jewish member of the Ugandan Parliament. Rabbi Sizomu is the leader of the Abayudaya Jewish Community, a 100 year old community of approximately 2000 Jews in Uganda. Rabbi Sizomu works tirelessly to elevate the Abayudaya and surrounding communities, including by building a health center that has helped reduce death from malaria by 90%. Rabbi Sizomu will discuss the unique history of his community, the role music played
in their survival and his own personal journey.
