Milwaukee Connections

Connecting to the larger community is important to look for avenues to make an impact on addressing the Milwaukee area hunger issue. We have joined The Milwaukee Food Council to find ways the Salinsky Program can make an impact.  Click here to find the other local groups working to bring healthy food systems into Milwaukee.

The City of Milwaukee is committed through the Green Milwaukee Department, to help plan for a Milwaukee food hub. Could food hubs help Milwaukee’s local food supply chain? What should a food hub look like? The concept of a food hub could mean anything from a farm stand located on a street corner to a food processing kitchen facility. Read an article posted in Outpost Natural Foods Graze Spring 2013 edition for more details. http://www.outpost.coop/connect/graze/10#/26.

About the CEEBJ Salinsky Program to Feed the Hungry

Louise Decasseres Mayer Salinsky, a longtime member of our congregation, provided a generous gift from her estate for the creation of an ongoing program to feed the hungry in our community. I am honored to lead this effort and encourage all congregants to get involved. There will be opportunities at every level for you to make a positive difference - to do mitzvahs in the community. Through the kindness and foresight of Mrs. Salinsky, we are in a position to make an incredible positive impact on the lives of thousands of people. Please join us.

Mission Statement

Feeding the Hungry in a Jewish context by joining the larger Milwaukee community to advocate and educate about food needs and encouraging volunteer activities.
