Dr. Rotstein is the Senior Education Advisor of the New York School of Education at HUC-JIR, having previously been the Director of the New York School of Education and director of the Leadership Institute for Congregational Educators since the beginning of the project in 2004.

 All learning is social and emotional. Each learning community functions inside a broader culture, and the social and emotional experiences that children have as members of the learning community will shape their cognitive learning. Neuroscientific evidence suggests a new approach to understanding how children engage in academic skills. Emotion drives attention and attention drives learning. Join us as we explore some concrete strategies to support our children to effectively manage their emotions, strengthen their ability for social relationships and build a toolkit for self- awareness, social awareness, and decision-making skills.
