2018-19 Siyyum HaSefer

On Friday, May 17th at 6:15 pm, our first year Hebrew students (3rd Graders) will help to lead us in worship and participate in their Siyyum HaSefer celebration during our Shabbat service. Siyyum HaSefer, literally translates to “conclusion of the book” and celebrates the completion of the first Hebrew primer and the hard work students have put in to coming to Religious School twice a week over the past year. It is a lovely life-cycle ceremony that marks the first steps in learning to read Hebrew and recognizes a child’s readiness to begin learning prayers more seriously.

We need your help with two parts. First, please let us know in the form below if you will attend. The evening includes a Shabbat dinner which begins at 5pm. This dinner is open to relatives and friends who would like to celebrate with you. The cost for dinner is $13.50 for adults, $9.50 for children 4-12, and free for children under 4.

We also need your help to create a special surprise for you child. During the service each child will receive their very own siddur with personalized cover (personalized by you!). We will have the cloth covers and decorating materials available during Religious School, but please let us know in the form below when you plan to come decorate your child’s cover.

If you have any questions, please contact Rabbi Schaller directly at (414) 228-7545.

This form is not active.
